Innokas has again participated in MedTec Europe fair that was arranged in Stuttgart, Germany in April 2015. Innokas joined the stand of BusinessOulu together with our partner HotSwap.

HotSwap is a contract design company with mostly medical device providers as customers, and with offices in Sweden, Germany and Norway. HotSwap does not offer mass manufacturing services, and Innokas and HotSwap have therefore agreed on a strategic partnership in the Nordic countries and Germany. According to the agreement, Innokas acts as HotSwap’s manufacturing services partner, and offers manufacturability engineering and mass manufacturing services to HotSwap’s design customers, in order to facilitate the transfer of the new medical devices from design to manufacturing. Innokas has already collaborated with HotSwap’s Stockholm team for one year, and at Medtec Europe Innokas sales team had the opportunity to meet the team at HotSwap’s Lübeck office.

“We participated in the exhibition at BusinessOulu’s joint stand for companies from the Oulu region. It was a very traditional German trade fair, with many component suppliers and competitors, and there were only a few potential customers as exhibitors. On the other hand, a big part of the actual visitors were representatives of different medical device manufacturers, and we managed to book meetings with them via the complimentary matchmaking service of MedTec Europe. We were at the exhibition together with our partner HotSwap, and over the days at the exhibition, we learned to know better the people from their German office”, tells Innokas’ Executive Vice President Tommi Kaasalainen.

Antti Tolvanen, who works in Innokas Medical’s sales as Key Account Manager, participated in MedTec Europe for the first time. His impressions were that the event was a bit smaller than the Compamed fair at the medical technology industry’s main event Medica, and one clear benefit of Medtec Europe was the matchmaking service.

”In my opinion, the exhibition was a bit quieter compared to Medica which is arranged in Düsseldorf, but a big advantage was the complimentary matchmaking service. Via the service, we had the opportunity to meet with several potential new customers. I think that Innokas could continue participating in MedTec Europe through a similar joint stand”, Tolvanen states.

Kaasalainen considers that the exhibition participation was beneficial, and he also endorses the matchmaking service at MedTec Europe. Some discussions initiated at MedTec Europe have already progressed into the offer creation phase.

”I feel that standing at the booth created no value, but actively booking meetings in advance made exhibition participation fruitful. Via the matchmaking service we had meetings with a number of very interesting potential customers, and some of these discussions have already progressed into the offer creation phase”, Kaasalainen tells.

The MedTec Europe exhibition is one of Europe’s most important trade fairs for medical device manufacturers. This year, the exhibition had 690 exhibitors from 32 different countries. The next MedTec Europe will be arranged April 12-14th 2016 at Messe Stuttgart.
